Colour Creation.

Captured Properly.

Pigment & Picture is a full-day education experience designed to elevate both your technical colour work and how you present it to the world.

In the first half of the day, Meg (Colouring on the Spectrum) will break down pigment placement, CMY colour theory, and intentional design — so you can stop guessing and start creating with clarity and control.

In the second half, Ash ( A World of Ash) will teach you how to capture that work properly — using lighting, positioning, and camera settings that accurately reflect your colour, dimension, and detail.

This is about mastering the work and mastering how it’s seen.

‍Part One: Pigment, Placement & Wig Work

This section focuses on understanding how pigment actually behaves so you can create intentional, predictable, high-impact colour work.

You’ll learn how to apply the CMY system to real-life salon scenarios, control underlying pigment, and design placement that creates clean blends, strong contrast, and balanced results.

We’ll also be discussing and demonstrating wig work — including how Meg colours wigs and how to properly fit a lace frontal — opening up opportunities for creative freedom, portfolio building, photoshoots, and alternative income streams.

Especially valuable for neurodivergent stylists who want structured clarity, logical systems, and space to be creative without chaos.

‍Topics include:

Understanding CMY

Reading and controlling underlying pigment with Vivids

Correcting muddy or unbalanced results using pigment logic

Intentional placement for dimension and impact

Introduction to wig colouring and lace frontal fitting

Using wigs for creative work and photoshoots

Part Two: Hair Photography, Lighting & Client Direction

Once the work is strong, Ash will show you how to capture it cleanly and consistently.

This section focuses on photographing hair accurately using both iPhone and professional cameras — without dulling colour, blowing out highlights, or misrepresenting your work.

You’ll learn how lighting affects tone and dimension, how to position your client based on the haircut and colour placement, and how to create cohesive, on-brand images that elevate your portfolio.

‍Topics include:

Understanding lighting and its impact on hair colour

Client positioning for colour and shape

Adjusting camera settings (iPhone + DSLR/mirrorless)

Avoiding common photography mistakes

Creating consistent, true-to-life portfolio images
